Although during my time at the IVPP I have not organized any of my own field work due to the fact the complicated and often delicate organization of field projects in China is impossible to execute as an ex-pat, I have been lucky to join colleagues and good friends in the field. I have conducted field work in the United States, Canada, China, Mongolia, and Romania.

Inner Mongolia, China. summer 2003. Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology expedition to prospect and screen-wash for mammals in Neogene deposits.

Montana, USA. Summer 2003, 2006. Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History expedition prospecting and quarrying in the Late Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation. 

Qinghai, Gansus, Xingjiang, China. Summer 2005. Prospecting for mammals in Neogene deposits identified by oil geologists in the 1950’s. 

Utah, USA. Summer 2007. The University of Southern California-Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Southern Utah Dinosaur Expedition prospecting in the Kaipaorwits Formation in Grand Staircase Escalante. Expedition Leader. 

Xinjiang, China. Summer 2010. Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology expedition prospecting for dinosaurs in the Jurassic Shishugou Formation in the Junggar Basin.

Mongolia. Summer 2011. American Museum of Natural History expedition prospecting for Cretaceous dinosaurs and lizards and Paleogene mammals.

Gansu Province, China. Spring 2014. Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology expedition quarrying for Early Cretaceous birds in the Xiagou Formation.

Free State, South Africa. Winter 2016, 2017. University of Witswatersrand expedition prospecting and quarrying in Jurassic deposits collecting dinosaurs and mammals.

Alberta, Canada. Summer 2016. Phil J. Currie Dinosaur Museum and University of Alberta expedition prospecting in Cretaceous deposits in the Grand Prairie region (PJC Dinosaur Museum, University of Alberta).

Romania. Summer 2017, 2019. American Museum of Natural History expedition prospecting and quarrying in Cretaceous deposits in the Hateg Basin and near Sebes.
